Titanium alloy applications for aircraft fuselages

Aircraft engines require the use of alloy thermal strength, specific strength, and fuselage requires the alloy at moderate temperature with good strength, corrosion resistance, light weight and other excellent properties. Titanium alloy can well meet these requirements. The use of titanium alloy as fuselage material has the following five advantages: 1) Replacing steel and nickel-based superalloy can greatly reduce the quality of aircraft. The high thrust-to-weight ratio allows titanium alloys to be used in aircraft parts in place of slightly stronger steel.2) It can meet the aircraft strength requirements.

Compared with aluminum alloy, about 60% of the mass of titanium alloy can achieve the same strength. Titanium alloys can replace aluminum alloys at temperatures exceeding 130 ° C, as this is the ultimate applicable temperature for traditional aluminum alloys.3) Good corrosion resistance. Most aircraft support structures are located under kitchens and toilets and are prone to corrosion. Titanium alloys do not require an anti-corrosion coating or coating.4) Good electrochemical compatibility with polymer composite materials.5) Space constraints instead of steel and aluminum alloy.
