Niobium rf superconducting cavity with high RRR value (residual resistivity) has been industrialized in ningxia

Recently, the national science and technology support project "r&d and industrialization of rf superconducting cavity" passed the project acceptance, marking the successful industrialization of niobium high RRR value (residual resistivity) rf superconducting cavity in ningxia.

Radio frequency superconducting cavity is the core component of superconducting accelerator, which is of great significance to the development of superconducting accelerator, relevant large scientific engineering and national defense construction. During the 12th five-year plan period, Ningxia science and technology department actively organized and supported Ningxia Orient Tantalum Industry Co., ltd. and Peking University to carry out relevant research and apply for the national science and technology support plan, focusing on the market demand of rf superconducting cavity and the technical advantages of Ningxia Tantalum alloy r&d and processing.

During the implementation of the project, the research group carried out the research on niobium with high RRR value (residual resistivity), which is the key material for rf superconducting cavity. It broke through the key technology of niobium smelting and processing with high RRR value, and developed the manufacturing technology of high-purity niobium plate and bar with RRR greater than 300.We have overcome the key problems in the manufacturing and industrialization of superconducting cavities, developed the production technology of multi-cell rf superconducting cavities with independent intellectual property rights, and developed two types of rf superconducting cavities such as 1.5ghz single Cell large grain and 1.5ghz7cell fine grain with accelerated gradient performance reaching the international advanced level. The production capacity of 30-50 rf superconducting cavities per year has been built and formed, realizing the industrialization goal of the project.
