Development status of pure nickel sheet in China

In China, the research on the preparation process of pure nickel sheet started relatively late. In the 1950s, induction furnace smelting, casting, hot rolling and finally cold rolling were mainly adopted, and the research and production of pure nickel series plate and strip began. However, due to backward technology, the overall mechanical properties of the material are low.

While foreign developed countries, such as the United States, Germany, Japan, Sweden, Russia, etc. developed and produced nickel plate products earlier, and pay attention to the combination of material research and production technology, using electric arc furnace, furnace refining (AOD, VOD, CTS), horizontal (vertical) continuous casting, its furnace melting capacity is large, with vacuum treatment means, After years of development, its products have uniform chemical composition, excellent performance, good surface quality, stable size, and has formed a complete range of product specifications, mature production technology, advanced technology and many other advantages. On the one hand, due to the small market demand, enterprise research and development, production willingness is not strong, on the other hand, subject to the smelting equipment level, nickel ingot billet specifications are generally small, resulting in a wide pure nickel strip coil products almost no.

Later, due to the continuous improvement of China's economic development level, the rapid growth of consumer demand for electronic products, indirectly pull the expansion of pure nickel series nickel plate, nickel strip, nickel foil material market. In order to meet the continuous improvement of material performance requirements of products, researchers began to add alloying elements to nickel to induce lattice distortion of materials, so as to improve its mechanical properties.

At present, domestic and foreign research focus on nickel is mainly focused on nickel base alloy, such as the hot rolling process of nickel base alloy research, research on pure nickel is very little. Domestic research on pure nickel mainly includes the research on cold deformation behavior of pure nickel and the research on microhardness and microstructure of cold rolled pure nickel. However, there is little research on the simulation deformation of pure nickel in hot working. To some extent, this also caused our country in the whole processing aspects of pure nickel plate, nickel strip, a certain gap compared with advanced countries in the world, whether it's technology level, product quality, production scale, product structure and equipment precision, or the preparation of the slab quality, hot and cold rolling process control and surface quality control, etc.

In recent years, the demand for nickel, nickel alloy plate and nickel alloy strip abroad has grown rapidly, with an annual growth rate of about 25%. China's nickel and nickel alloy processing material consumption has also grown rapidly, the annual import growth rate reached 20%, and nickel plate, nickel strip accounted for three quarters of the total import. Therefore, it is of great significance for the preparation of pure nickel material, especially the wide plate of pure nickel which is in great demand, as well as the research on the subsequent treatment of the plate.
