China's high-end titanium industry demand prospects

As one of the emerging industries supported by the state, new materials play an important role in this round of economic transformation, while high-end titanium materials, as an important member of new materials, will usher in a new round of development space.

High-end titanium mainly refers to high-performance pure titanium or titanium alloy products produced based on sponge titanium processing, and its application scope covers many fields. At present, high-end titanium materials technology is mainly controlled by the United States, Japan and Russia, with a high market monopoly position and little room for bargaining, which restricts the scope and scale of use of high-end titanium materials in China. However, in the context of China's promotion of a new round of industrial structure upgrading, high-end titanium materials will attract a new round of demand.

In the field of aviation industry, no matter civil aircraft or military aircraft, high-end titanium has become an important material for the fuselage and engine of all kinds of aircraft due to its excellent performance of high temperature resistance, high strength, low quality and high corrosion resistance, and the proportion of its material will continue to improve. In civil aviation, civil aircraft has entered the era of domestic production. Avic previously predicted that the number of new civil aircraft in China would exceed 5,000 in the next 20 years, while the demand for civil aircraft in areas such as assistance, urban security, agriculture and fire fighting will also grow rapidly. On the military side, against the background of the international arms race, China continues to strengthen national defense construction, optimize and upgrade the air force equipment level, military aircraft upgrading will open up a huge demand space.

In the field of Marine engineering, including shipbuilding, seawater desalination, offshore oil and gas development, Marine energy utilization and other aspects will increase the demand for high-end titanium materials, especially the shipbuilding industry brings great imagination, including the incremental demand for new ships and the increase in the proportion of titanium materials per unit.

In the field of nuclear power, with the restart of nuclear power construction this year, nuclear power will usher in a construction climax during the 13th Five-Year Plan period. As an important high-end titanium material used in the field of nuclear power, titanium welded pipe for nuclear power will bring a huge incremental demand for titanium material after the start of a new round of nuclear power construction.

In the automotive field, automotive manufacturing is moving towards the development stage of lightweight, high-end titanium materials due to high strength, light weight, in the automotive material composition is gradually increasing.

In the field of equipment manufacturing, "Made in China 2025" proposes to vigorously develop high-end equipment in the future. High-end titanium material will be popularized and used as an important new material due to its excellent performance, and will be widely used in medical equipment, CNC machine tools, robots, 3D printing and other aspects in the future.

The application fields of high-end titanium materials are extensive, including the "go out" industries supported by the "Belt and Road" strategy, as well as the key fields vigorously promoted by the "Made in China 2025" initiative. The two concepts of "The Belt and Road" and "Made in China 2025" are combined. The future demand space for high-end titanium materials is worth imagining and looking forward to.

China is rich in titanium resources, and the titanium industry has achieved rapid development in the past ten years, especially before the subprime crisis. Due to the rich profits, many places have developed titanium resources on a large scale to expand production capacity. The output of sponge titanium and ordinary titanium materials ranks first in the world, and the production of low and medium titanium materials is seriously surplus. Although our country and the United States, Japan, Russia, four countries in the world country with a titanium complete industrial chain, but in the industrial chain of back-end development in our country is insufficient, market products mainly to mid-range products, high-end titanium technology is relatively backward, the lack of the high-end products of reliable quality and market recognition, unbalanced development of the industrial structure. Therefore, for high-end titanium materials used in domestic aerospace, nuclear power and other fields, domestic enterprises cannot meet the requirements either in terms of qualification or in terms of production technology and process. The corresponding demand is mainly dependent on imports, and there is a huge space for import substitution.

Media reports that the University of Kiel in Germany invented a new nickel-ti-copper memory alloy, its deformation times can reach tens of millions of times will not break, its excellent performance again caused people's attention to high-end titanium materials. Due to its excellent properties of high temperature resistance, low temperature resistance, strong acid resistance, strong alkali resistance, high strength and low density, high-end titanium materials have been widely used in aerospace and other fields.
