Molybdenum alloy processing

Molybdenum and molybdenum alloys can be made into blank for further processing by vacuum smelting and powder metallurgy. In addition to being spun and drawn into bars and filaments like pure molybdenum, they can also be further processed by forging, hot extrusion and rolling. The blank prepared by powder metallurgy method can be put into deep processing directly because of its fine and even grain structure. The blank obtained by vacuum smelting must be hot extruded first and then processed after changing its structure. In the technical specification of molybdenum alloy, compared with pure molybdenum, it has more heating times and high machining pressure. For example, in order to obtain fine grain structure during the forging of molybdenum alloy, the deformation amount of each pass should be greater than 15% when the deformation is 1250 ~ 1400℃.Since the recrystallization temperature of molybdenum alloy is 300 ~ 500℃ higher than that of pure molybdenum, the deformation processing temperature of the alloy should be higher than that of pure molybdenum. At the beginning of rolling, in order to obtain the high quality plate, the pressure reduction of each step must be considerable so that the deformation of the metal along the whole section can be as even as possible.
