Preparation of titanium alloy

The traditional processing of titanium alloy generally adopts smelting and casting technology, and the latest processing technology is divided into the following:

(1) near-net molding technology;

(2) line friction welding technology;

(3) superplastic molding technology;

(4) computer simulation technology of material preparation and processing.

Near-net molding technology includes laser molding, precision casting, precision die forging, powder metallurgy, jet molding and other methods. Powder metallurgy is a new process of manufacturing titanium parts by using titanium powder or titanium alloy powder as raw material, through molding and sintering. First is the production of powder, generally using mechanical alloying method, the use of a ball mill on the raw materials for a strong impact, grinding and mixing. Then the alloy which has formed powder is pressed into shape. There are two pressing methods, pressure forming and non-pressure forming. The purpose of this step is to produce a certain shape and size of the pressed embryo, and to make it a certain density and strength. Then, discharge plasma sintering was carried out on the blank material, and special sintering power and pressing pressure were applied on the sintered powder by using upper and lower die stamping and energizing electrodes, and high-performance titanium materials were prepared by discharging activation, thermoplastic deformation and cooling. Then after the plasma sintering of titanium alloy for subsequent treatment, generally heat treatment or plastic processing.
