The properties of the new molybdenum alloy are better than TZM alloy and rare earth molybdenum alloy

Molybdenum is an important strategic metal, and molybdenum and its alloys can be used as key components in the aerospace industry, such as the flame nozzle and combustion chamber of the engine, nose cone and nozzle of the spacecraft, etc., the service conditions are demanding, but the high temperature wear resistance of the alloy is not ideal. In the national natural science funds and the support of the National Development and Reform Commission, the major science and technology projects, joint industry backbone enterprises after eight years in henan university of science and technology research, successively through the second phase size control, composite powders of liquid-liquid doping synthesis, such as static pressure molding and pressure processing, several key technologies such as the successfully developed authigenic Al2O3 ceramics nanoparticles enhance molybdenum alloy high temperature abrasion.

It is known that the microhardness of the alloy at room temperature is up to Hv400, and the particle size of alumina in hard phase is about 500nm.The high-temperature hardness at 1300℃ is greater than Hv330, the high-temperature tensile strength is greater than 250MPa, and the elongation is greater than 20%.The addition of Al2O3 strengthened the molybdenum matrix, effectively improved the scratch resistance and ploughing resistance of molybdenum alloy, and greatly improved the wear resistance. The high temperature wear resistance of 10vol%Al2O3/Mo alloy is about 5 times that of pure molybdenum. The hardness, strength and wear resistance of the new molybdenum alloy are better than TZM alloy and rare earth molybdenum alloy.

The new generation of high temperature and wear resistant molybdenum alloy studied in this project can break the foreign blockade, effectively reduce the import dependence of high performance molybdenum alloy products, and meet the development needs of aerospace, metallurgy, chemical, electronics and other industries. The project has applied for more than 20 invention patents, and has fully independent intellectual property rights, reaching the international advanced level.
