Resistance welding of titanium and its alloys

There are many welding methods of titanium and its alloy, but because of the large resistivity of titanium and its alloy, and the thermal conductivity is small, very suitable for resistance welding, and easier than aluminum, low carbon steel, etc. In spot welding and seam welding, in order to reduce the contact resistance between the electrode and the workpiece, the roughness and cleanliness of the welding surface of the workpiece should be improved as far as possible. Mechanical or chemical methods can be used for the operation. Because of titanium and oxygen affinity is very strong, clean up after the workpiece contact resistance increases with storage time extension, general storage time ≯ 24 h. Also, the gap between the two welding parts between the electrodes should not be too large, if the gap is too large, the electrode pressure will not cause burning or splashing, and the air in the gap will make the joint brittle, strength decline; Therefore, the general gap should be less than 0.2mm.
